What this switches off
We do not sell your personal information. We do share it in the sense California means: when you accept advertising cookies, Google AdSense reads cookie and device identifiers, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and the pages you open here, and uses them to choose ads for you elsewhere. Turning sharing off stops the ad code loading at all, so none of that leaves this browser.
What it covers, and what it does not
The choice is stored in this browser, so another browser, another device or a private window needs its own. Nothing is stored on our side, because we have no account to attach it to. Turning the advertising category back on in the cookie settings opts you back in, which is the point of a switch that goes both ways.
